you’re like a wild pigeon caught between someone’s hands and you’re flapping and flapping your dumb little wings, no regards to who you could hurt or what you could do. you’re just flapping your little wings as hard as you can.

you want to fly free so bad but you don’t know that we can’t send a pigeon out in the desert. theres no water, no trees, no life here. just wait, please, we’re trying to save you, not cage you. but the more we try and protect you the more you flap, the more you squawk, the more you scratch and claw. please just listen. but you don’t. and you never will.

one day you’re going to tire out. and if you don’t you’ll get loose and you’ll burn in the heat of a desert sun. i wish i could still love you, little pigeon but my hands are covered in nicks and cuts. i can’t trust you anymore. you used to be the most beautiful bird i’d ever seen. and now i can’t even look at you.

when you finally fly free you’re going to miss those loving hands that held you. but we’ll all be long gone by then. we can’t just wait around for you to come flying back to us. we have better things to do. maybe you won’t see it today, or even tomorrow or even next week. but you’re going to see it. we all see it.

i love you little bird. but i’m clipping my wings now. i won’t fly with you any longer.
